Artist's statement
나는 늘 ‘채워지지 않는 무언가’와 함께 살아왔다.
타투이스트로 보낸 20대는 기술을 익히고 사람의 몸 위에 그림을 새기며 지나갔지만, 마음 한편에는 설명하기 어려운 공허함이 남아 있었다. 그 빈자리는 때때로 나를 서두르게 했고, 때로는 아무것도 하지 못하게 만들기도 했다.
2021년, NFT라는 새로운 매체를 접하며 나는 처음으로 그 공허함의 모양을 마주했다.
메모와 일기, 스케치북 사이에 흩어져 있던 나의 조각들을 하나씩 꺼내어 디지털 작업으로 옮기며, 나는 ‘내 안에 쌓여 있던 이야기’가 단순한 허공이 아니라 형태를 가진 세계였다는 사실을 조금씩 깨닫기 시작했다.
내 작업은 완성된 답을 말하지 않는다.
삶은 언제나 비어 있다가 다시 채워지고, 또다시 흘러가는 과정이기 때문이다.
그래서 나는 내가 지나온 흔적들—불안, 반항, 미완성의 마음, 그리고 그 속에서 조용히 자라는 희망—을 이미지로 기록하듯 남긴다. 마치 나의 세계를 다시 조립해가는 과정처럼.
이번 전시는 그 조각들을 한자리에 모아놓은 작은 '지도'와 같다.
어디로 가야 하는지 완벽히 알지 못하지만, 분명히 지나온 길들이 있고, 앞으로 나아갈 길이 있다는 것을 보여주는 지도.
이 작업들이 누군가에게도 자신의 내면을 들여다볼 작은 빛이 되기를 바란다.
그리고 나에게는, 미완의 세계를 계속해서 이어붙여 나갈 또 하나의 출발점이 되기를 바란다.
