Artist's statement
공예의 길은 느리고, 깊고, 조용합니다.
한 땀 한 땀 이어지는 바느질의 반복 속에서 시간은 차곡차곡 쌓이고, 손끝에서 작품이 피어납니다. 그렇게 완성된 한 점의 공예품에는 단순한 쓰임을 넘어, 작가의 시간과 호흡, 그리고 그 길을 걸어온 이야기가 스며 있습니다.
<공예로1길> 전시는 각자의 자리에서 묵묵히 자신만의 길을 걸어온 공예 작가들이 한자리에 모여 서로의 발자취를 나누고, 새로운 길을 함께 내어놓는 자리입니다. 이 길은 화려하거나 빠르지 않지만, 그 대신 단단하고 오래 갑니다.
우리 속담에 “무소식이 희소식”이라는 말이 있습니다. 세상에 소식이 없다는 것은 무사함을 의미하고, 그 자체로 기쁜 소식이 됩니다. 이번 전시는 바로 그 무소식의 시간, 겉으로 드러나지 않았던 묵묵한 시간들을 한 공간에 담았습니다. 오랜 시간 조용히 쌓아온 작가들의 성실한 발걸음이 오늘의 작품이 되어 관람객 앞에 놓입니다.
<공예로1길>은 한길을 걸어온 이들의 길이 모이는 길이자, 또다시 새로운 길로 이어지는 시작점입니다. 이번 전시가 공예의 깊이와 지속성을 함께 나누고, 그 온기가 더 많은 사람들에게 전해지는 시간이 되기를 바랍니다.

About
김기은 작가는 금속과 혼합재료를 활용해 빛과 생명감을 형상화한 설치 작업을 선보인다. 대표작 <빛, 어우러지다>(2025)는 자연을 소재로 유기적인 형상에 빛을 담아냅니다. 인공적인 재료를 사용했음에도 불구하고, 인공과 자연의 경계를 허무는 조형미로 따스한 빛을 통해 마치 살아있는 듯한 생명력을 불어넣는다. <White Garden>(2025)은 흙과 한지를 통해 공예적 감각으로 풀어낸 정원을 표현한다. 자연 재료가 가진 고유한 질감과 색감을 활용하여 정원의 평온하고 순수한 느낌을 표현합니다.
조현하 작가는 섬유와 바느질 기법을 통해 기억과 시간을 직조하며, 일상 속 작은 것들에서 발견하는 아름다움을 표현한다. <Flowers>(2024)는 실크와 구슬, 바느질로 탄생한 다채로운 형상의 꽃들을 보여주며, <부채꽃>(2025)은 한국적인 소재인 부채에 섬세한 장식을 더해 일상 속에서 피어나는 아름다움을 드러낸다.
Kim Gi Eun presents installation works that utilize metal and mixed media to embody light and vitality. The representative piece, <Light, Blending> (2025), captures light within organic forms inspired by nature. Despite using artificial materials, the work blurs the line between the man-made and the natural, infusing the space with a warm light and a sense of life. Another work, <White Garden> (2025), is a garden expressed through the artist's unique sensibility, using natural materials like clay and traditional Korean paper (hanji) to convey a sense of serenity and purity.
Jo Hyun Ha weaves together memory and time using fabric and sewing techniques, expressing the beauty found in small, everyday things. Her work <Flowers> (2024) showcases a variety of colorful blossoms crafted from silk, beads, and meticulous stitching. <Fan Flower> (2025) adds delicate embellishments to the traditional Korean fan, highlighting the subtle beauty that blooms from everyday objects.
