Artist's statement
작품 속 공간들은 기하학적인 구조와 확장된 투시를 사용하였는데, 이것은 현대사회에서 느끼는 긴장감, 자신을 포장하고 방어해야 하는 차가운 인간관계, 예측하기 어려운 막연한 미래, 현실에 대한 한계 등을 의미한다. 하지만 작가는 이런 요소들을 해소하고자 정서적 안정을 추구하는 의미의 표현도구로써 "색(色)“이라는 언어를 선택했다.
특별히 회색을 조합하여 만든 색으로 편안하고 신비한 매력을 보여주고 작품 분위기에서 느껴지는 차분한 감정과 다양한 의미를 찾아보도록 유도하였다.
작품 속 등장하는 강아지 캐릭터는 일상을 함께하는 반려견에 대한 사랑과 관찰로부터 시작되어 작고 나약한 존재라는 의미로 인간의 모습을 비유적으로 표현하는 것이며, 디즈니 애니메이션 감상으로부터 차용된 이미지이다. 이것은 마치 숨은그림찾기를 하듯 관찰자의 흥미를 이끌기 위한 즐거운 시도이기도 하다.
본 작품은 공간에 대한 이론적 접근을 통해 공간 개념을 파악하여 인간과 공간의 상호관계를 이해하도록한다. 그리고 인간이 과거로의 회상, 현재 모습의 실존적 경험들이 축적되고 미래에 대한 갈망과 기대 등이 재조합되어 또 다른 공간으로 재창조할 수 있다는 확장 가능성을 고찰해 보았다.
